New Guidance for Nurses: Medical Cannabis
The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM), College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) and College Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM) have developed new guidelines to help Manitoba nurses understand their professional and legal responsibilities when caring for clients who are authorized to use cannabis for medical purposes.
The guidance in this document reflects the information available to the three nursing colleges at this time. Administration of cannabis for medical purposes is a new area of practice, and interpretations of the legislation may evolve. The nursing colleges may add to, or amend, the document as new information becomes known. Readers should also be aware that the document does not provide legal advice. Employers are encouraged to seek their own legal advice.
