A Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Workshop Presentations for Manitoba’s Health Care Professionals

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

It is a day to honour the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. It is also a day to reflect on Canada’s colonial history and the ongoing impacts of residential schools.

To promote this reflection, the Manitoba Alliance of Health Regulatory Colleges is offering two virtual workshop presentations for Manitoba’s health care professionals on September 29th.

Kevin Lamoureux, faculty member at the University of Winnipeg, public speaker, and award-winning author, will speak on Truth and Reconcilation Perspectives at 9:30 – 10:30 am.

Faye Tardiff, long-time educator and member of the Kinew Local of the Manitoba Metis Federation, will speak on Cultural Safety, Colonial history in Canada and steps to reconciliation from 2:00 – 3:30 pm.

Both workshops are free of charge. Advance registration is required.

Note: these workshops are appropriate Continuing Competence Program (CCP) learning activities for any LPN who has established a learning goal for themselves related to Truth and Reconciliation, cultural humility and building culturally safe practice environments.
