Revised Practice Direction: Self-Employed Practice
The CLPNM has revised its practice direction for LPNs who practise in a self-employed* capacity.
The updated practice direction will:
- help LPNs distinguish between employed and self-employed practice
- help LPNs understand the added risks and responsibilities they take on, and which they must be prepared to manage, when they choose to practise in a self-employed capacity, and
- clarify expectations for ethical conduct when advertising, accepting gifts from industry, and selling/supplying products to clients.
All practical nurses are expected to review, ensure they understand, and practise in accordance with the practice directions published by the CLPNM, their professional regulatory body.
Any registrant with questions about how to meet the professional expectations described in the practice direction are encouraged to contact the CLPNM Practice Department at firstname.lastname@example.org
*The CLPNM formerly referred to self-employed practice as independent practice.
