In accordance with Section 25 of the Licensed Practical Nurses Regulation, all practical nurses in Manitoba are required to carry liability insurance. Liability insurance protects the public by ensuring they have recourse in the event of an error or omission. For this reason, the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba purchases errors and omissions insurance on behalf of its registrants. The cost of this insurance is included in annual registration fees.
The documents below have been prepared by Lloyd Sadd, to help LPNs understand their insurance coverage. It is important for LPNs to review these bulletins and to take note of what is included and excluded from this coverage.
Any questions or requests for further information about the policy should be directed to the insurance broker, Lloyd Sadd.
It is also important that LPNs be aware of the circumstances in which they require additional coverage. The following bulletin describes some of these circumstances.
Note: all LPNs who are self-employed must hold commercial general liability insurance in addition to the errors and omissions liability insurance purchased by the CLPNM on behalf of its registrants. Consult the CLPNM’s Practice Direction on Self-Employed Practice for more information, and consult an insurance broker (such as Lloyd Sadd) to obtain coverage.
