Personal Protective Equipment Reminder

Posted: March 16, 2022

LPNs are reminded that, while public health orders requiring masks in public places were lifted as of March 15, 2021, mask-wearing continues to be required for all individuals attending a health care facility.

In addition, Shared Health Manitoba issued guidelines, dated March 11, 2022, advising that health care workers continue to be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) when practising within home and community care settings.

Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, the CLPNM has advised its registrants who practise outside of the publicly-funded health care system (e.g. private practice, self-employed) to follow the same standards of infection control as those who practise within the public system.

In keeping with this, the CLPNM advises LPNs to continue screening all clients for risk of COVID-19 infection, and to continue using appropriate PPE during all client encounters.
