Online Jurisprudence Education Module
The Jurisprudence Education Module provides an overview of the legislation, by-laws, professional standards, and practice directions that guide the practical nursing profession in Manitoba.
Reviewing the full learning module is a requirement for those entering the profession, and any registrants who are specifically directed to complete the education by the CLPNM.
Although the learning module is optional for most LPNs, any LPN who wishes to refresh their knowledge may choose to review the learning module again.
NEW: Beginning February, 2025, the Jurisprudence Education Module and Quiz will be required for all student practical nurses (SPNs) before they will be eligible for graduate practical nurse (GPN) registration with the CLPNM. Please review this Fact Sheet for more information.
The Jurisprudence Quiz
Applicants and registrants who have been directed by the CLPNM to complete the Jurisprudence Education Module will also be required to complete a quiz to confirm their learning.
You must watch all 10 units of the Jurisprudence Education Module (accessible above) before you start the Jurisprudence Quiz.
There is a fee to complete the Jurisprudence Quiz. Please see the CLPNM Fee Schedule for the specific amount. Each person assigned the quiz will be required to pay the fee only once, even if they need more than one attempt to pass the quiz. The CLPNM will permit up to three attempts.
This quiz contains 25 multiple choice and True/False questions. It is an open-book quiz. Applicants and registrants are encouraged to consult the following CLPNM resources while completing the quiz:
Anyone who is assigned the quiz will have maximum of 2 hours (120 minutes) to complete it. Many people complete the quiz in far less time. The extra time enables those completing the quiz to consult online resources, and re-watch portions of the learning module if they need to.
If you are required to complete the jurisprudence quiz, you will access the quiz from within your online registration profile.

Individualized Jurisprudence Education Sessions
An applicant or registrant who has been directed by the CLPNM to attend an individualized jurisprudence education session may be required to attend a session with a CLPNM consultant in person, or virtually, at a scheduled time. If this applies to you, you will be advised by the CLPNM.
